NLAPW Biennial – Branch Participation – April-May, 2024
To Create Takes Courage is the theme of the NLAPW 51st Biennial Conference. The Central Ohio Branch was well represented in the art competition. The juror was Nanette Maciejunes, former Executive Director and CEO of the Columbus Museum of Art. The art awards judge was Cat Sheridan, director/curator of Ohio Arts Council Riffe Gallery.
Branch artists with works included: Veena Bansal, Robie Benve, Anita Burgess, Neha Dadhich, Karin Dahl, Keiko Hidaka, Jane Flewellen, Bev Goldie, Roberta Kayne, Carmen Ostermann, Dawn Petrill, Evangelia Phillipidis, Vivian Ripley, Gale Suver, and Darlene Yeager-Torre.
Art Competition Award Winners: our branch took the lion’s share of awards.

- Greeting by reenactors of former Ohio NLAPW members “Alice Schille” (Josie Merkle) and “Erma Bombeck” (Leslie Robinson). They will make an appearance and then mingle with the guests.
- Background music performed by The Columbus Koto Ensemble.

Darlene Yeager-Torre – Bryn du Art – March 2024
Darlene Yeager-Torre has two works juried into the 20th
Annual Bryn Du Art Show in Granville, Ohio.
Both encaustic mixed media
works are part of a series Yeager began last summer with a grant from
the Greater Columbus Arts Council. The series is based on an aarticle by
Carl Sagan called the “Pale Blue Dot.” Each work contains a tiny pale
blue dot of color reminding us that we all have a grave responsibility
to one another and to planet Earth, “… to preserve and cherish the
pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.”
