Karin Snouffer – Guest Artist

Karen Snouffer is a Professor Emerita Professor from Kenyon College and resides in Granville, Ohio. She will be sharing her processes of ideation, preparation, and fabrication of larger scale art projects. She will discuss some of her renowned projects such as a three-story mural, “Urban Trellis: The River Becomes the Vine” for the Pizzuti Companies and the site-specific installation, “A Snail’s Perspective” for the Dublin Arts Council.

Helen is the author of I Belong Here: Living the Life I was Born for in America. She will talk about her novel and what it means to be a resilient immigrant.

Trista is a harpist who collaborated with our own member, Karin Dahl, on Karin’s project at the McConnell Arts Center. She will share her music and her prolific professional career.

“Clay: A Love Affair with Time” – Carmen Osterman – Member Spotlight

Carmen will be discussing her studio practice and the methods in which her work juxtaposes the beauty of the environment and the harm being inflicted upon it. In this talk she will break down her process using clay to build ornate depictions of birds being consumed by ecological succession from their habitats. Ostermann will delve into how her work shifts between scientific findings and traditional knowledge in order to seek an understanding of our relationship with the natural world by using collection, containment, attention, deep listening and a labor intensive studio practice. This talk will also cover current and future projects.
