Brenda Layman Published in Outdoor Lore

National League of American Pen Women Central Ohio Branch

 

Brenda Layman’s article, “To My Editors, with Thanks”, was featured in the December 2018 issue of Outdoor Lore, the newsletter of The Outdoor Writers of Ohio. OWO is an organization of professional communicators who are pledged to promote the wise use of natural resources and defend the environment against abuse and exploitation. Brenda is a member of the organization.

Bev Goldie’s Encaustic to Appear in Nationally Juried Show

Bev Goldie has reached an exciting milestone. Her encaustic work, “Rolling Along,” has been accepted into a nationally juried show. As a new International Encaustics Artists member, she entered the national member show entitled, “Survey of Contemporary Encaustic Art” to be held at the Chaffey Community Museum of Art just outside of L.A. The show will be from January17 – March 10.

She has shipped her piece to the show, where it will be photographed and included in a professionally produced catalog.

Coffee and Conversation with Artist Bev Goldie

Bev Goldie will be presenting a Conversations and Coffee at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center on Thursday, January 10th at noon – 1 p.m. She will show images of her trip to Santa Fe, the Museum of Encaustic Art, and a Biennial convention there for which she was awarded a GCAC Professional Development Grant.

Cost: Free

The Cultural Arts Center is in downtown Columbus at 139 W. Main Street. Bev will go to lunch at Milestone 229 afterwards, and those interested in continuing the discussion are welcome to join her there.

Bev Goldie Artist Reception at Copious

National League of American Pen Women Central Ohio Branch

 

Bev Goldie’s Art Reception will be held at Copious Restaurant in the Brewery District at 520 S. High St. from 5 – 7 p.m. on January 9. There is free parking in the back, meter parking nearby, and valet available. Bev has 43 pieces hung in various styles and media. The title of the show is “Intrigue”. All are welcome! The show is up until March 3rd.

Brenda Layman Publishes Pickerington Magazine Article

Brenda Layman’s article, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, appeared in the December 2018/January 2019 issue of Pickerington Magazine. In it, she shares information about the three “Blessing Boxes,” also known as Little Free Pantries, that are maintained in the Pickerington community. Area residents donate food, toiletries, and baby care items to those in need, who may visit the boxes at any time and take what has been provided. The article is also published online at Cityscene’s website.

Darlene Yeager-Torre Work in Juried Show

National League of American Pen Women Central Ohio Branch

 

Darlene Yeager-Torre had a work juried into an exhibit in Gainesville, Florida, called “Creativity Takes Courage.” Her piece, titled White Spring Blossoms, was a long exposure night photograph of a tree full of white blossoms, painted with light to provide a stark contrast that makes the tree appear to be glowing in the dark.
